Found by the Prince of Peace

god-of-peaceTwo weeks ago I had knee replacement surgery on my left knee and on November 28 I will be having the right one done.

I’ve known I needed to do this for over 2 years but I still have been putting the surgeries off because the thought of having someone cut my whole knee joint out and replacing it with metal and plastic made me feel really uncomfortable and to be honest it really scared the living daylights out of me.

After I made the decision a lot of worries crossed my mind about the things that could go wrong but I knew I had to not be dwelling on those things and just look to how much better my life was going to be when everything went right.

I had a great peace and I really wasn’t nervous at all during the time up to the surgery but the morning of the surgery for some reason I started to get really nervous. By the time we got into the car to go to the hospital my nerves were starting to get the best of me and I was beginning to feel like I had some sort of dark heavy cloud of dread hanging over me. When we pulled our car out of the garage a thick heavy fog was covering the neighborhood which just added to the dread I was feeling.

A few minutes later we were flying up the highway and I was sitting over in the passenger seat praying silently, but the harder I prayed, the more scared I became.

Where was God’s peace at now??

Somehow I had lost it and it was now hidden deep in the fog which seemed to be pressing in tighter and tighter on me.

I wanted to forget the whole surgery and tell my husband to turn the car around and head back home but before I could get the words out of my mouth suddenly in the middle of the dark gloomy morning the sun started peeking out through the fog and the sky began changing.
20160919_070405
In a matter of seconds, the sky was a mix of beautiful colors. I began taking pictures of the sky and somehow without even realizing it was happening God had managed to reel me back to peace.
By the time we arrived at the hospital a beautiful sunshiny day had dawned and I was ready to get on with getting a new knee.

But God wasn’t done yet…
I was met by my nurse who would check me in and found out her name was ‘Joy’. Joy’s name fit her well and she was exactly the perfect person for me to start off this day with. Joy the nurse was full of joy. Being checked into surgery by nurse Joy along with her name tag flashing the word “Joy’ at me constantly, there was no way I couldn’t feel the continued presence and peace of God.

Joy stayed with me until it was time to go to the Operating room holding area.

My next nurse’s name was ‘Lisa’. Which is also the name of my dear friend Lisa who now lives in heaven. I’m not really sure why having a nurse named Lisa gave me peace but seeing the name Lisa reminded me about Lisa and how courageously she had lived her life during her illness right up until she left for her new one. Remembering Lisa reminded me that I wanted to live my life courageously trusting in God like she had.

Everything seemed to be going well and I was doing really great the whole morning but then the anesthesiologist came in and introduced himself. His name was David. David was nice and he looked like just the guy to handle the job of putting me to sleep. I was really liking him a whole lot but then he gave me a choice to make. It was a choice that nobody had even mentioned or that I had ever dreamed was available. David gave me the choice of staying awake or going to sleep during the surgery..… STAYING AWAKE???!!

I remember saying to him, “you’re kidding right?”

But this was not a joke… this guy was dead serious!

I had seen the video of what they were going to do to me and it involved cutting my whole knee joint out with saws and then putting in the new knee with a hammer…SAWS… AND HAMMERS!!! Did I mention they were going to use saws and hammers and this guy was giving me the option to stay awake during the surgery????!!!!!

I’m sure you know by now my answer to that question was…. NO WAY!

I didn’t even have to answer him before he said, “Maybe you better go to sleep.” I wonder if it was the… ‘you are crazy for ever asking me that look’ I must have had on my face.

After that I lost my peace again and suddenly I felt sick to my stomach. I went to the bathroom to be sick and when I arrived back at my bed there was a woman in my room waiting for me. “Hi I’m the hospital Chaplin and I came to see if you would like me to pray with you,” she said.

Ummmm…. Ya…

How cool is that?! The minute I lost peace God sent a Chaplin in to pray with me!

We prayed and then we just chatted for a while as if we were old friends. Before I knew it the God of peace had found me again and it was now time for me to go into the operating room. The last thing I remember was telling someone that they really needed to organize the operating room because it was really a mess….

I’m not really sure what my obsession with organized operating rooms is but the last 2 surgeries I’ve had that line has come out of my mouth just as I drift off to sleep. I will blame it on the happy meds they put in the IV.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

3 hours later I woke up with a brand new knee and a horrible pain in my hip.

Yep you heard that right, I go in for knee surgery and come out with hip pain.

I now know that the pain in my hip is my sciatic nerve. Somehow it became irritated during the surgery and I have to say it is about the worst pain I have ever dealt with in my life!

But...even though the sciatic nerve is giving me problems I still seem to be breezing right through the knee stuff. I am excelling in my exercises with my range of motion coming back way quicker than is expected.
The crazy thing is my knee which is what I was worried about before the surgery is not an issue at all.
The problem is this sciatic nerve hurts really bad If I lay down and I also have had problems with every pain medication they have given me so Tylenol is all I can take.
Sooooo… sleeping is something I have not been getting a whole lot of.

Every night about 11 pm the pain starts and I then spend the rest of the night moving around to different areas of my house trying to get comfortable. I can take a lot of pain and usually never cry about pain but I have to say that this is the first time in my life that pain seems to keep turning me into an exhausted crying mess.

I have spent a whole lot of time this past couple of weeks listening to the Hillsong channel on T.V. and Pandora Radio. Every single night there is one song that seems to always play right at the time which is when I am usually at the height of my pain.

The song is “Prince of Peace” by Hillsong United.

The words to this song always seem to help me find comfort and peace.

My heart a storm
Clouds raging deep within
The Prince of Peace came bursting through the wind
The violent sky held its breath
And in Your light I found rest
Tearing through the night
Riding on the storm
Staring down the fight
My eyes found Yours
Shining like the sun
Striding through my fear
The Prince of Peace met me there
You heard my prayer – Words and music by Hillsong United

Just as I am feeling as if I can’t go on anymore Jesus always meets me right in the middle of the pain and then he carries me through the night. He is my comfort and peace until the early morning hours when I finally fall asleep.

Jesus is my peace…

As I am writing this its almost 11 pm the pain hasn’t started yet and I am hoping it doesn’t. Each night I pray that it won’t start but each night it still does. I am not really sure why that prayer hasn’t been answered yet but so many more prayers have been answered so far.

I am learning that I can get through anything no matter how painful it is when I call on Jesus. I have seen Gods hands and miraculous healing in this and also in past illnesses I’ve had. Also from what I have heard Knee replacement surgery is very very painful, thankfully I haven’t had much knee pain so far which my physical therapist says she has never come across so maybe I have the better pain of the two…. ?

AAAAnyway …. it’s getting late so I am going to try to get some sleep.

Have a great night!

Great are You Lord – Music Monday

As I cross through the valley of the shadows you never leave me to cross alone.

You are by my side with each step,

holding me steady,

helping me make my way through the shadow days.

You are a lamp burning bright,

my guiding light that I must always keep in sight.

You are my strength,

my comfort,

the breath in my lungs.

The only way I can ever make it through is when I walk with you.

You are my refuge,

Great are You Lord.

The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever.   Psalm 23

Live It Well

music monday1

Today’s music Monday song is “Live it Well” by Switchfoot.

I love this song because it speaks so much about attitude and how our attitude can actually determine how well we live our lives.

There are days when it may seem as if there are only small glimmers of light peeking out of the dark, but on those days when we really make a conscious effort to focus on those glimmers then we are always sure to find the good.

We can also be one of those glimmers to someone else.

When we are living life well and sharing God’s love with others then we will see him even more.

Have a great week!

Music Monday – Chain Breaker

music monday1

It seems like we are living in a hurting world lately. The things I am seeing in the news and on social media are things that I have never ever seen in my lifetime. It just seems like there is so much more hate and anger with people hurting one another and turning to violence. People want a solution to whatever they feel angry about, but I just don’t see how turning against one another is going to solve anything.

The only real solution to anything that I can see is Jesus. If we don’t turn to him I think things are going to continue to get worse.

Maybe your not a Christian and when you saw what I just wrote you thought to yourself “Ya right! that woman is loony toons!”  Believe it or not, I actually understand that because I used to feel the same way when people told me that Jesus could help the world or help me.

I used to think he wasn’t real.

Now I think maybe I knew deep down that he was real but It was easier for me to tell myself he wasn’t real then to risk the rejection that I thought he might give me because I thought I wasn’t good enough for him.

What nobody ever told me or maybe I just somehow missed it, was that Jesus didn’t come just for the good people or the ones who had it all together.

The truth is this….He came for the liars, the cheaters, the thieves, the murderers, the drug addicts, the abusers and the abused.

He came for the broken, the hurting.

Yes it’s true – He came for the good and the bad.

He came for Me and He came for you.

He came for us ALL.

Today’s music Monday song is Chain Breaker by Zach Williams.

This song brings me to tears every time I hear it because the words are so true!

If you’ve got pain, He’s a pain taker
If you feel lost, He’s a way maker
If you need freedom or saving, He’s a prison-shaking Savior
If you got chains, He’s a chain breaker (Chain Breaker lyrics by Zach Williams)

Can I get an AMEN?!

He came, He died, He took the blame, He took the pain. He took it all so we could be free!

I know this is true because my own life has changed because of Jesus.

Yes, I still get angry, I still get sad, and I still feel pain.  But now I don’t face any of life’s struggles alone anymore.

I take comfort in knowing that when things feel out of control that God is still in control.

I take comfort in his love and I am free from the things that used to weigh me down.

My chains are broken.

Freedom in Christ is a way better life.

We all can have that freedom.

All you have to do is ask and he will remove your chains.

If you’re in need of someone to tell you more about the freedom you can have in Jesus let me know in the comments below or contact me via the contact tab on the top of the blog.

Have a great week!

I’m Not Afraid of What You Think of Me

music monday1

January 1, 2012…that was the day I started this blog.  I really had no idea what a blog was other than I felt like God wanted me to start one. What would I write about? I’m not a writer. Will anyone read what I write? Those were the kind of questions that kept filling my head but I did it anyway.

A shocker to me was that the readers came. As time went on I became more comfortable with sharing my thoughts, and oddly the readers still kept coming back.  Most of the time I never really paid much attention to the stats or how many people had actually read. People clicked the like button and people commented, over all the blog seemed to be going pretty well.

But then my worst fear happened….

More people I knew in my personal life started reading. People from my personal life had read the blog before but it was starting to get to the point that every time I posted someone would come up to me and say “I read your blog….”

Nothing bad was ever said to me, actually everyone always gave me very sweet and positive comments, but suddenly I found myself afraid to post. I feared that the people I knew in my real life would see what I wrote and think I was weird or something. It was like suddenly the inside of me was out there, exposed for everyone to see.

When people I had never met face to face read what I wrote I was brave but when my real life friends began reading I suddenly felt frozen with fear of what would they think of me.

I never stopped writing but found that t I couldn’t seem to post anything anymore. I would write, then read what I had written and then tell myselft it was too weird or not good enough. When I wasn’t posting I called it writers block but now I call it something else…FEAR.

Now let me tell you about my weekend.

Saturday… Lately God has been leading me in a new direction. It’s far from where I feel I have been since starting this journey with him but the crazy thing is that over the past few weeks…. Or make that months there have been many little poofs of eye opening things that he has sent me that have shown me this is for sure the direction he is sending me.  a few weeks ago I even had a moment that I realized WOW I was already there and didn’t even know it!  But now I feel as if he wants me to take it farther and that is pretty scary to me.  I am not sure how to start or where do I start… how do I do something I know nothing about???  I know this is probably not making any sense and I started this paragraph with Saturday but never started on Saturday uggh! If you could just hang with me a little bit longer I will try my best to spit this out.

Back to Saturday…Saturday morning I was praying… journal by my side… suddenly I find myself on my knees saying… “God how do I do this? What do you want me to do??”

Most of the time when I pray especially when I pray on my knees I lean over my bed and I have this cat that will come on the bed and stand in my face meowing while messing with my hair and stuff. This day as I prayed I heard the pages of my journal turning. I thought it was the cat at first but then I realized it sounded as if he was turning pages one page at a time like a person would turn them. Just as I was coming to the realization that this was not my cat and also that he was nowhere near me I heard the words “open your eyes!” I opened my eyes and right in front of me I see my journal laying open with one paragraph blaring out at me “Not only do you have to go through the door, sometimes you need to go up to it and put your hand on the knob. Don’t be afraid!” The crazy thing about this story is that my whole journal is written in pencil but that one paragraph written on March 10, was written in red ink! I have no idea why on March 10 I wrote one paragraph in red ink, but there it was blaring out at me. And That moment I knew the door to where God was leading me was there for me to go through but I hadn’t actually allowed myself to open the door because I had been afraid to open it!

Sunday…. Sunday I went to church. I’m sitting there and the band starts playing while they are collecting the offering. The words to the song started going through me.. words like, I was unworthy and Jesus you saved me… I really can’t remember the words very well but suddenly from my place in the back of the room I see the place I am in right now and I am in awe of God’s presence and how he has brought me to this place. Memories started pouring in… memories of me in the parking lot of that very church 5 years ago afraid to come in yet there now because Jesus had brought me here. As I sat there I realized I was a part of something way bigger than I could ever have imagined being part of and living a life so drastically different than it used to be.

Fast forward to the sermon. Our youth pastor was sharing his own story of God in his life and he was talking about surrendering. He started talking about how some of us had things that we needed to surrender to God. I felt myself trembling while he spoke and having tears but yet at the same time thinking I had nothing to surrender. At the end of the sermon he said that the alter was open for people to come up if they had something to surrender.  I heard God tell me to go up. I was like “go up for what? I have nothing to surrender” God said, “yes you do, your fear of what other people think of you.”

I was like, ”um God you must be mistaken, I don’t care what they think.”

He said, “yes you do, your trembling in fear…(I was) now go up there.

In my mind I was thinking, “oh God, I can’t go up there in front of all of those people…I’m too scared!”

The struggle went on for what seemed like forever but then the next thing I know I am blubbering at the altar.

I can’t explain how I felt after that but it sure felt good! Something inside of my seemed to break yesterday. Not broken in a bad way but broken somehow in a good sort of way. like a huge weight was lifted off of me.

Yesterday I surrendered my fear of what other people think of me to God.  I know today that as long as I carry the weight of that fear I can never ever accomplish anything He wants me to accomplish.

So today I am here fearless. No back reading, no changing words to make this post how I think you my readers and my friends may want to see me… Instead its just what it is… words I am writing for God. I am not quite sure why he wants me to share this stuff but because he wants me to do it I am going to do it. Also since today is Monday and on this blog on Monday it is Music Monday I am going to share a song that is playing while I write this that seems fitting to this post.

‘More of Me’ by Colton Dixon  I hope you enjoy it.

So today’s post was about giving away fear and surrendering to God’s will, who knows what it will be the next time, but I plan to keep writing here as long as God wants me to write.. no matter who is reading 😀

What do you need to surrender? Like me, maybe you can’t see it either. If you want to know just talk to God he’ll show ya.

Have a great week!

A Hand Reaching Out

I was sitting on a beach enjoying the sunshine when suddenly the clouds that had been puffy white suddenly turned an odd shade of brown and started going together into a long roll. I stopped what I was doing and stood up watching, mesmerized as they rolled quickly across the sky coming to a stop over the water.

The clouds kept getting bigger and bigger and they started dipping down close to the water. The people around me started to panic and someone said, “oh my God it’s a tornado!” and then everyone started running.

Everyone was screaming and running but I couldn’t move because my feet were suddenly frozen to the ground. Everyone around me was panicking but I wasn’t scared at all. It was like I had this feeling of peace and a knowing that I was safe and I just stood there watching the clouds.

Chaos was everywhere and then in an instant it was if the world around me just stopped. All the people were all standing frozen in place now and there was no wind or rain to go along with the darkness. The ocean waves had stopped leaving the surface of the water still and dark black like a giant pool of ink. It felt as if the air went silent too. It was so quiet I imagine this is what deafness must feel like.

I should have been scared but I wasn’t scared at all. It was like the hush I felt around me was also inside of me filling me to the depths of my entire soul with a perfect feeling of peace.

Suddenly out of the deafness there came a loud clap of thunder and the clouds began parting with rays of the most magnificent beams of bright light I’d ever seen shining through them and then a giant hand came out of the opening in the sky. The hand came down just above the water and opened turning palm upward. It began moving closer to us with beautiful colored light shining all around it.

Someone shouted, “it’s the hand of God!”  By then I was already crying and feeling in awe of his presence because I knew those words were true…Yes! This was the hand of God!  So many feelings were going through me now, feelings of joy and love and an unexplainable feeling of peace like I have never known. The hand moved around as if offering itself to all who wanted to grasp it but nobody moved. After a while it went back up into the clouds and the sky immediately went back to normal.

I was wrecked, falling to my knees to pray thinking those around me would join in…but it didn’t happen. Instead, the people just went back to their business as if nothing out of the ordinary had happened. It was as if nobody even cared what they had just been a part of.

I turned to a woman standing next to me and said, “wow the hand of…”  but she cut me off and said, “the hand of God, ya right, who cares!” and then she rolled her eyes!

God’s hand had been there, right in front of us, offering for each one of us to just reach out and take what he had to offer. It couldn’t possibly be true that nobody cared! They were all right there so close to being in in the palm of his hand, how they could pass that up it just made no sense!!! I started crying….

And then I woke up.

It had only been a dream!

Even though it was only a dream my heart was still pounding and I felt sick to my stomach and my face was wet with tears because I had been crying in my sleep.

I know it was only a dream but it felt so real!

It’s been a day and a half and I still can’t shake it that dream. In the dream, it made me sad that God was right in front of us in such a spectacular display and nobody cared and nobody would take what he had to offer. This has me thinking about how there used to be a time in my life that God’s hand was right in front of my face and I didn’t see it. I also have to admit that there are still some days that go by and I miss him.

Years ago I didn’t see him because I didn’t want to see Him. I used to think he wasn’t real and now it’s hard for me to believe that I could have ever felt that way. How could I have gotten up in the morning to see a sunrise and never wonder how something so magnificent could have gotten there? How could I have had 3 children and never once questioned how something so perfect as a newborn baby could have formed without help from something more than just magically happening? I could go on but I know you know what I mean… flowers, animals, air, water, LIFE. It’s all because of Him.

God is real and God is always here in each and every second of every day. We may not see him as a big giant hand reaching out of the sky like in my dream but He is all around us in each and every single thing in each and every single day.

I don’t want to miss him, and I don’t want anyone to miss what he has to offer!

Open my eyes Lord.

Open our eyes, let us see your hand reaching out to us!

I know to someone who doesn’t believe in Him this may sound strange. I know because I have been there. I used to live my life without God in it. I also remember a time in my life that I felt that I was too bad and that there was no way he could ever want or love me. But that wasn’t true and even though I totally gave up on him and also on myself, he still never gave up on me. He has shown me time and time again that he wants me, and now that he is in my life He has been right here holding my hand for every single step I take. If you are reading this and in need of a hand to help lift you up, all you have to do is want Him in your life. Just tell him you want him and then grab on to his hand. He sent Jesus to save us and all we have to do is ask him in and he will come.

It’s truly that simple.

If He is what you want and you don’t know what to say, you can say this prayer –  Dear Jesus, I know you are the son of God, I know you came for me, I know you died for me. I ask you to come into my life right now. I ask you to forgive me for my sin because I want to make a fresh start. I want to live the rest of my life with you and for you. Amen

If you said that prayer for the first time or maybe you are just deciding to come back from a separation of some sort, know that now he has you in the palm of his hand. If you are there you will never be alone.

“Can a mother forget the baby at her breast
and have no compassion on the child she has borne?
Though she may forget,
    I will not forget you!
 See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands;
your walls are ever before me. Isaiah 49:15-26

Have a great weekend!

Sometimes You Have to Face the Clouds

silver lining
Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distress. He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed. They were glad when it grew calm, and he guided them to their desired haven. Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind. Psalm 107:28‭-‬31

Keep pressing on!

Music Monday ~ Ever Be

music monday1I seem to be at a loss for words to write today but I do have a song I’ve been singing all weekend that I’d like to share with you.

“Faithful you have been, faithful you will be”

What song have you been singing lately?

Have a great week!

A Song in My Heart

psalm 98:4-6I hear you calling softly,
a mix with melody.
Love notes of peace,
say, “my child come to me.”

Your voice,
afloat on sweet whispers of Lyrical art.
Beautiful solo,
a song of tranquility to my heart.

In Your arms I lay my burden,
tomorrow’s worry lost.
Rescue in harmonious tempo,
my life was found when you paid the cost.

Beautiful, forever love of my life,
My everything.
Sweet words of your love song,
in my heart will forever sing.

It’s been a really long time since I’ve shared a poem here.  The other day I was reading another blog that I enjoy which is filled with some of the most beautiful poems I’ve ever read and it made me realize I never share my own poems anymore. I’m not really sure when I quit sharing them but now I see that somewhere along the line of writing this blog I quit sharing my most favorite thing to write which is poetry.

I guess maybe I started sharing only what I thought people would rather read when the truth is I really have no idea what people really like reading or how many people actually read what I write anyway.

What I do know for sure is there is one person who reads everything I write and that person is God. When I first started this blog the whole reason I started it was for Him and I think its time to get back to sharing the me that He created me to be.  It’s not that I haven’t been me, with my other posts, its just that I’ve been holding back on sharing what I feel most passionate about writing the most, which is poetry.

I may not be a fancy poet or even have a clue about how poems are supposed to be written, but I love writing whatever kind of poem that it it is that I write, and I am pretty sure that is what you may be seeing a lot more of from me in the future.

If poetry isn’t for you then I guess you’re reading the wrong blog today. And that is perfectly okay 🙂

Oh, and while I am at it, I also love music and I love taking pictures…. sooooooooo…. below is a video I put together of pictures I have taken.  They are pictures of some of the beautiful gifts God always gives to me on a daily basis.  I put them along with one of my very favorite songs which I think goes well with the poem.

I hope you enjoy You Are so Good to Me by Third Day, with pictures by Me 🙂

Have a blessed day,

Terri Siebert

In My Hour of Desperation I Will No Longer Be a Slave to Fear – Music Monday

Good Morning! The days seem to be flying by anymore and it seems to me as if it was just yesterday that I posted last week’s Music Monday song. With that being said the next thing I am going to say probably won’t make a bit of sense…. Even though the week seems to have flown by it also seems to me as if so much has happened this past week that it could have actually really been a month that went by! Can anyone relate?!?

Last week I asked you for prayers for our family for something that was going to take place later that afternoon.

On Monday afternoon, prayers were answered and things looked as if they had gone the way we were hoping they would go. But then a few days later we found out that even though things had gone our way on Monday, we now have a whole new obstacle to tackle.

I am not usually one to get caught up in political issues and really have a hard time with people saying bad things about the officials in charge of things. To me, it seems as if we seem to have lost respect in our country for those who are in places  of authority and I don’t really think that its right that we should trash talk them even if we don’t agree with them…. but I will say that here lately, it seems that I find myself wondering why grownups act more like children than children do anymore.

I know today sounds like I am ranting, and I’d like to say I’m not, but I will admit yes I am. Last week a child in my family had their right to safety ripped out from under them. I am tired of seeing this child hurt… actually, I am tired of seeing any child hurt… make that….actually, I am tired of seeing grown ups hurt too. People hurting is a hard one for me but it’s even harder when the people I love are treated unfairly and are hurt because of it. Something needs to be done about the nonsense we have going on in our country anymore.  Sometimes people push to get what they want just because they think they have the right to have it and I don’t even think they really want what it is they are trying to get other than just to make a point it’s their right to have it, so they will take that right no matter what the cost.

And in this case, the grownups got what they wanted but, the cost is a child being hurt because some of the people who are in charge of making the decisions for the child’s life think more of themselves than what their actions will do to the child in the long run.

That is not the only thing I have going on in my life at the moment but I am going to stop with that and spare you the details of the rest of the junk going on and move on with this story… this story does get better, I promise.

Today I woke up at the crack of dawn feeling really down and just sick about the struggles going on lately in life.

I wanted to stay in bed but I had to get up. I had too much to do today and laying in bed wasn’t going to get them done, so I got up out of bed and headed for the shower.

Normally the first thing I do when I get up in the morning is to turn the radio on.  Today I was in such a grumpy mood I didn’t want to listen to the radio station I usually listen to. Most days I listen to a Christian radio station that plays a whole lot of joyful songs and I really wasn’t feeling the joy this morning. For my friends who usually see the happy side of me here is a sneak peak at the side of me I don’t let people see very often… The side of me I don’t like much but it is me sometimes and it is who I was this morning.Yep, today I was in a horrible mood and I was just gonna just lay down and wallow in it.  Like I said I wasn’t feeling the joy so instead of my favorite radio station I turned my Pandora app that I have on my phone with plans to listen to some good old fashioned classic rock. I  connected my phone to the blue tooth speaker in my shower and got in.

At first, the music didn’t come on.

Awesome,  now my music wasn’t working either. I was already soaking wet by then and didn’t want to take a chance on getting my phone wet. So I made the decision to shower without music today.

Once I had a pile of shampoo suds on my head the music suddenly came on with these words blaring out of my speaker…

I see the work of Your Hands
Galaxies spin in a Heavenly dance oh God
All that You are is so overwhelming

“Where is my classic rock???”

I hear the sound of Your Voice
All at once it’s a gentle and thundering noise oh God
All that You are is so overwhelming

I delight myself in You
Captivated by Your beauty
I’m overwhelmed, I’m overwhelmed by You

God, I run into Your arms
Unashamed because of mercy
I’m overwhelmed, I’m overwhelmed by You

I know the power of Your Cross
Forgiven and free forever You’ll be my God

All that You’ve done is so overwhelming

“Okay God, I get it…

The words kept coming and the next thing I knew I am feeling this overwhelming presence of love in the room and I find myself lost in the words to the song forgetting that I was in the shower or for that matter I think I may have forgotten that I was even in the room.

I am not sure how long it was before I came back to my senses and realized the water was cold and my skin was shriveling up so I had better move out of the shower. After getting out of the shower I left the music on and one song after another played, taking me through my morning routine which wasn’t so routine for me anymore today.  Every song that played seemed to be organized in some sort of story order, all with words that fit me where I was today.  Songs with words that took me on a trip back in time and then brought me right back to the present filling me full to the top with hope and most of all with peace.

The past 5 years a whole lot has happened in my life and over the past 5 years, Jesus has walked with me in many places. Many of those places were good but also many were hard places. After walking through each one of those places, I came out at the end standing firmly with the knowledge I will never ever walk alone again. Sometimes I tend to get off track and let fear get in the way of my memory of all he has done but somehow he always seems to come looking for me and reels me back in. He refuses to allow me to give up and I know he has put me here where I am for a reason and I have to keep going. He never gives up so neither can I.

Maybe things aren’t going how I have them planned out in my head they should go.  Maybe I don’t understand it all but what I do know is … this time just like all the other times God has a better plan than I do. So it’s time to stop worrying about how things look to me in this moment and instead look forward to the outcome God has planned which I am sure will be better than anything I can imagine right now.

God totally hijacked my radio station today and I am so very thankful for that.

Anyway… instead of one song today, I am posting as many of the songs that I can remember that played this morning. I know the list is quite lengthy but maybe there is something in there for you.

Have a wonderful day and a wonderful week and don’t forget to check out the songs below!
